Oakland, California, November 15, 2024: Volaris Airlines is commemorating 15 years at OAK. With the addition of three new Mexican destinations and more frequency to current routes. A new nonstop service to Zacatecas has been introduced by the airline. It’s the eighth destination from OAK. Zacatecas is the capital of Mexico’s state of Zacatecas. It joins Monterrey and Los Cabos, making three new. continuous service between OAK and important locations in Mexico. Beginning July 2, 2025, the flights will be scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Volaris recognizes OAK as a convenient option for passengers to the San Francisco Bay Area. Volaris will now serve seven Mexican destinations as well as one in El Salvador from OAK. Its route map includes over 70 destinations in Mexico. As well as international travel to Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Peru.
The new service represents an investment of about US$200 million in planes for usage at OAK. The airline will rely on its new A320/A321 NEO plane. They are powered by CFM LEAP engines with winglets. These lower CO2 emissions by 22% per seat and NOx emissions by 55% over prior versions. The planes are also quieter than previous models, lowering noise for passengers and airports by 50%.
Yesterday in Oakland, airline and airport officials also highlighted the impending daily, nonstop service to Los Cabos, a popular route for San Francisco Bay Area passengers looking for a beach holiday. The service between OAK and Cabo is the airline’s first attempt into a popular leisure destination for US vacationers. On March 20, 2025, right before Spring Break, the daily nonstop flights to Los Cabos will start.The flights are precisely scheduled to coincide with the timings for hotel check-in and check-out. When combined with Volaris’ low tickets and the convenience of OAK, which is the closest airport to the majority of the area’s people, the new flights offer outstanding value to San Francisco Bay Area travelers.
To conclude a day of operations, the airline and airport “cut the ribbon” on their newest flights, which now operate three times a week between Oakland and Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.
